Instructors to avoid

8 July 2001

Instructors to avoid will definitely fall into this category, the instructor who talks down every martial art apart from there own. The instructor who bad mouths every organisation that represents there own style apart from there own.

When you go to a martial arts school for the first time you will undoubtedly not be aware of the politics that can be involved by those who want to rule the world.  The martial arts should and can be different as soon as you came across this problem I would advise you to leave this school straight away and not get dragged down into this. As I am sure that the intentions when you first looked for a school to improve yourself was not to get involved into a nasty negative environment. I know that you may feel some sort of loyalty to your school and think that you are protecting your group.

Remember this, that people have a wonderful thing in this country the freedom of choice, if they want to be in a different organisation then yours then that's fine and if they do a different style then yours, then that is there freedom of choice.

Instructors who talk negatively about there students as I can guarantee you that when you leave the room you will be the topic of choice. If you join in with this activity then I can tell you that the point of doing the martial arts is to better yourself and this will damage you in all  aspects of your life. Find another school that treats there student as equals and with respect and not as fools.

You should stay away from these people at all cost  as they will definitely have a negative affect on you. Be brave and live and let live.

Finally I know many instructors from different schools and styles that support us and we support them as we we believe that choice for the individual is paramount above all our personal choices. If you wish to do a different art then ours the I wish you well but keep in mind why you went in the first place..
